Kool Runnings Beach - April 11, 2010

I just found myself posting as often in this blog site my beach adventures in Zamboanga del Norte. Well, one might ask why. There are many breathtaking beaches in Sibugay, but why not take time to enjoy here? Buluan, Looc Labuaan, to name a few are beaches to go. One thing, it is the security of the beach goers that have to be considered. The threats of kidnapping are still there.
Kool Runnings Beach is one of the resorts at the western shore line of Labason. Among the beaches I have visited in Labason, it is one of the few that have wider sand stretch. The sand is fine and ranges from mostly light brown to beige. There are a few cottages. Beach buddies can really enjoy the cool breeze and the clean water. The beach view is a scenic backdrop for picture taking. Serenity and simplicity are the obvious characteristics of the beach.I was with my friend Lovely (that one in green below; she's with her cute son Kenzie) and her family and our other friends, in advance celebration of her birthday.

The Alluring Island of Bayangan - Oct 25, 2009

Mesmerising this island is. Cream sand, cool wind, diverse marine life, panoramic views... just everywhere, just alluring.
Bayangan is a 7-hectare island west of Labason in Zamboanga del Norte Province. The island can be visited through a pump boat ride, which would take 30 - 40 minutes to travel. It is best to go there early morning, like 5 am and return at around 10 am as the current gets a lot stronger in the afternoon.

From a distance (Labason Mainland), the island is seen as something flattened with extended white sand bar. But it is most amazing up close. As one approaches the island, brilliant sky blue waters can be observed circling around. It should be the white sand under that caused such reflection.
The extended sand bar is simply breathtaking. Walking through it would be an experience of stepping through shattered, dead corals in white appearance. It extends approximately a distance of a hundred meters. According to the inhabitants, the sand formation was just formed recently by strong winds and visiting typhoons.

What would be most enjoying is taking a swim through its cool, clear waters. The depth would be great for soaking and swimming.

It costs around 1, 500 pesos to rent a pump boat (with operators) to ferry the beach buddies to and fro. It is suggested that once in the island, approach directly the Task Force Bayangan Camp as a gesture of courtesy.

Malintubuan Beach - Labason, ZaNorte

I am not sure about the name of the beach but I thought it sounds like the title of this post. I was with the Interlude Choir here last May 27, 2007. The beach is adorned with wide fine, white sand. We did not pay for any entrance fee. The water is very clean. The place though is not that developed. (Got a bad hair day here. He-he-he..)
