Dolphin Island

Located near Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental, Dolphin Island is a sand bar that houses some dolphins, which are the major attractions for the tourists. Beach buddies may first have a little tour at the mangroves of the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP). Many endemic wildlife are caged near the bamboo-made bridge that runs around the park. Nearby the park is a picturesque wharf- the gateway to the infamous Dolphin Island. Visitors pay 350 pesos for the back-and-forth boat ride and another 300 for close encounter with the dolphins.

The dolphins are indeed attractive. They are caged around by a pen, where there is a bleacher for the visitors to sit and watch. In my case being a real beach buddy, I preferred to swim to an elevated sand bar area. It was one great experience when I was nearing the cream sand, the water birds flew away like cottons blown by the wind. I was with some 19 students who participated in the science field trip. Some of them followed and we made sorts of fun under the sun.
